Competitors gathered from around the Country to compete at Karate Ireland ONAKAI’s National Championships held at Tallaght Sports and Leisure Complex. This year’s Senior Nationals event was extended to include some kata and kumite events for cadets and juniors.
Kicking off proceedings were the male and female Veteran and Senior kata events followed, throughout the day, by a range of kata and kumite events with WSKF contenders in numerous categories.
There were exciting action matches featuring WSKF members exhibiting some fantastic work, solid performances and tactics.
Ireland’s chief instructor, sensei Mark Sheridan congratulated all members who accepted the challenges on the day and the never give up attitude displayed by all. The championships afforded an opportunity for members to display their physical and mental skills against their challengers but also sharing respect, camaraderie and friendship with their fellow national competitors. Fantastic experience acquired on the day with the highest medal tally of 13 Gold, 9, Silver and 11 Bronze to WSKF Members.
Many thanks to parents of the WSKF Ireland family who assisted carrying out various duties, at the championships, making a significant contribution on the day.
A very entertaining competition from start to finish with the future looking very bright indeed for WSKF Ireland karate.
