WSKF National Championships 2018 Report
Date: Apr 11, 2018 by admin
This weekend saw WSKF Ireland hold the National Championships at Kilnamanagh Sports and Community Centre, Dublin. This year’s championships took on a slightly altered format with the addition of entrants from of a variety of clubs invited to the competition. The aim of changing this year’s format was to have a more inclusive competition, augment variety in categories for competitors and to extend WSKF’s hospitality and friendship to competitors, instructors, coaches and parents.
There were great performances on the day from all who entered – medalists or not – you made the difference, in your preparation and your determination to succeed and all are winners.
This year’s special awards were presented by WSKF Ireland’s Chief Instructor Mark Sheridan to two deserving members, Seona Gannon of WSKF Ireland Senshi for Karate-ka of the year and to Sam Wheeldon of WSKF Skerries Karate Academy for the Fighting Spirit award for most improved student.
A special word of thanks to Saoirse and Eoin Wallace for all their hard work and dedication, thanks to all the officials, table staff and medic. A warm thanks to our friends in WIKF, WKFI, MSKG and ASKI who attended, to the spectators but the biggest thanks goes to YOU the competitors who attended and competed making it a great day!
